KUNDALINI – THE YOGA OF AWARENESS

SAT NAM. Truth is My Name.
Let’s start with the classic questions: Who are we? Why are we here? According to Yogic Scriptures, The Truth is that we are living spirits. SAT NAM. We are spiritual beings, living a human life, in a human body. We are ALL children of Divine Intelligence. We are here to love, to serve, to learn and to grow.
Yet, in modern living, we can go through periods getting caught up in constant negative cycles of thoughts and emotions. Sometimes we can’t turn off the never ending monkey-mind, that is overly self-critical, or sometimes a self-indulgent victim, and wallows in self-pity. We can subconsciously get addicted to dopamine, adrenaline, or to the chemicals that created our present emotional state, our mindset. When this happens, we hardly enjoy the present moment of simply being. We are either trying to control or avoid the challenging issues. We are psycho-somatic creatures and every single thought we have creates 1000’s of emotional and physical responses in our body. As our emotional-well-being suffers, our physical body suffers in response to the stress and anxiety we self-inflict through these uncontrolled thought processes.
You are not your thoughts. You are not your emotions.
How do we change this pattern? How do we get back into the healthy, energetic flow of life? Where do we find peace of mind in the midst of all the chaos? We can do it through energetic healing. Through a consistent Kriya Yoga practice, we can actively call upon Higher Consciousness, the healing powers, and connect to the loving, serving, growing spirit within us.
When we breathe long and deep, we automatically reconnect to spirit. This simple act of deep inner focus, quiets the mind. And we listen in the stillness. We find and heal the energetic obstacles when we go deep inside, to a place of All Knowingness. There, you will find solutions to every problem. We remember we are Ten bodies made of light energy, vibratory frequencies. In Yogic Anatomy, a Human Being is a Collection of Ten Bodies: our Physical Body, our Three Minds: Negative, Positive and Neutral, and 6 energetic bodies: our Soul Body, our Radiant Body, our Subtle Body, our Pranic Body, our Auric Body, and our Arcline.
We all have within us what is essential to health and well-being when we Awaken to Our Ten Bodies and make that Divine Connection to healing. Through a Kundalini Yoga practice, we can develop a self-sensory system that extends beyond the 5 senses. Through the Pranic body, the Breath of Life, we can charge this light. When we quiet the mind, in those moments of deep stillness – listen to Higher Intelligence inside. Listen and recalibrate. Listen and restore. The Divine Teacher inside will guide you internally to your soul’s purpose. A moral compass. A True North. Some call it God’s voice, or Goddess, Divine Mother, Creative Intelligence…call it what you will. We all have the ability to connect our own Soul to Source, and we have the ability to heal through this connection. It’s within me. It’s within you.
“If you understand that you are Ten Bodies, and you are aware of those Ten Bodies, and you keep them in balance, the whole universe will be in balance with you.“ – Yogi Bhajan
Through yogic breathing techniques, pranayama, our vital life energy increases. Our pituitary gland is strengthened. Our pineal gland is activated. We become more intuitively aware of systems shifting out of balance, and we can more easily turn DIS-ease into ease, joy and creative, higher-purpose living. We can learn to self-regulate when we tip out of balance, with more flexibility. As our spine becomes more flexible, so does our mind. And most importantly, we begin to communicate from our heart, instead of our head.
Sometimes in life we get caught-up in destructive, repetitive cycles of negative thinking and behavior. All the challenges that we go through as humans can start to wear us down. It’s a cold-depression when we are just going through the motions, not feeling a connection to our own true identity, to our own soul.
Are you a Human Being? Or are you a Human Doing?

The Adi Mantra:
ONG NAMO • GURU DEV NAMO
I bow to creative wisdom. I bow to the All Knowingness that lies within myself.
By tuning in, chanting the Adi Mantra, at the beginning of each class, we are connecting to higher vibrations of the Universe.
The Bij Mantra:
SAT NAM
I am truth. Truth is my true Identity.
The Sat Nam mantra is used to connect with one’s authentic self and is chanted to help calm the mind, erase unwanted habit patterns, and cultivate a sense of inner truth and clarity.
Here are three takeaways:
- We can boost our capacity to survive and excel under pressure; We can elevate our capacity for action and accomplishment, by strengthening our nervous system, while also activating our glandular system;
- Kundalini yoga helps to restore and balance our metabolism, expand our lung capacity, open up circulation to the brain hemispheres, and move dormant energy up the spine, through our chakras;
- Kundalini yoga has a cleansing effect, as well as creating an experience of joy and connection to the divine spirit within. The yoga will allow us to sit, to pause, and to quiet the mind in order to go into a deep meditative state. Our life energy will shift when we pause. This is when inner transformation takes place.
Our goal: Reflect – Restore – Recalibrate
- Reflect: Yoga gives a moment of stillness in our minds that helps to reflect where we are in life.
- Restore: Practicing Kundalini yoga regularly helps to restore the nervous system, and our ability to relax. It helps us stay calm under life’s duress, rather than react with the habit of flight or fight behavior.
- Recalibrate: When all systems are running more cleanly, with more energy, more ease, more flow, we are able to create the life we envisioned as children.
Kundalini yoga works.
The only true anchor we have is our soul.
Dwell in God. Befriend your soul.
Sat Nam.
